India’s NSA Doval Tours Russian Space Center as Space Cooperation Deepens

(MENAFN) Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval has visited Russia’s National Space Center during a trip to Moscow for an international security forum, where he was given a guided tour of key space infrastructure and facilities.

During the visit, Doval accompanied Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov to the Roscosmos Joint Industry Information Center, a facility responsible for analyzing large-scale data related to Russia’s rocket and space programs and coordinating aspects of its space operations, including future plans for a national orbital station.

Officials also received briefings on current space technologies and ongoing development programs before participating in a live video call with astronauts aboard the International Space Station, including Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Andrey Fedyaev, and Sergey Mikaev, who discussed recent activities such as a spacewalk conducted in late May.

The visit highlighted long-standing cooperation between India and Russia in the space sector, which dates back to the early years of space exploration. Historical milestones include India’s first human spaceflight in 1984, when astronaut Rakesh Sharma flew aboard a Soviet Soyuz mission.

In recent years, collaboration has expanded further, including joint work on India’s upcoming human spaceflight program, Gaganyaan, and integration of satellite navigation systems between India’s NavIC and Russia’s GLONASS platforms.

At the space center, the delegation was also shown advanced aerospace technologies, including high-performance rocket engines and components associated with Russia’s next-generation space infrastructure.

Russian space officials have indicated plans to strengthen cooperation with India in the coming years, with broader agreements expected as both countries expand their space exploration programs and technological partnerships.

The visit took place alongside wider international participation in Russian space events, reflecting ongoing collaboration between multiple countries in scientific and aerospace research despite broader geopolitical tensions.
