Helicopter Goes Down Near India's Andaman Islands
The aircraft, operated by Pawan Hans, India’s national helicopter service, crashed shortly after departing from Mayabunder, a town in northern Middle Andaman Island, according to media.
A spokesperson for Pawan Hans described the incident as a "short landing incident."
"The helicopter had taken off from Port Blair with two crew members and five passengers on board. All have been rescued and are safe. No injuries have been reported," the spokesperson said.
In a separate development, the Indian Air Force on Sunday grounded its full fleet of approximately 30 single-seat Tejas jets for safety inspections after a Tejas light combat aircraft overran a runway and suffered damage, according to a news outlet.
